japanese sunset

For the foreigner, a typical japanese sunset might be a red sun setting at the ocean with a Shinto Shrine in the forground. That can be one as well, but the one that most japanese see, or for that matter, the one which they can most relate to is probably the sun setting over a typical japanese urbanscape. Narrow streets cluttered with vending machines and telephone poles, ugly cables hanging overhead all contribute to characterizing this country.

Great summary. Even nicer feel. Like the heat from the pavement today. Excellent thought and representation. Arigato.

Thanks for your comment. Still pretty warm for september. Then again, we had such a long rain season this summer where you kinda feel short changed if it turned cool already.

Beautiful image - you've captured a great sense of atmosphere here. I can almost put myself on that street walking in the half-light. Great thoughts on the subject as well. I think there's something special in the actual, rather than the idealized typical Japanese sunset, in that it is real and beautiful, despite the clutter of modern life.

Thanks David. I take it you're in Japan so you must've enjoyed the beautiful weather we've been having over the past few days.

Alas, I am not in Japan (not yet, at least). Images like this make the place of my goal very real, though.
